Leaving this here as sort of a digital post-show post-it note for myself:
I was fortunate enough to be cast as the Male Swing in ACT of CT's production ofThe 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee. Understudying every male part in the show (a total of five, not counting the doubling) was an idea that scared me, so I said yes. It proved to be a unique challenge, producing shiny new lessons and reinstating some old ones that I've picked up over my years working in theatre. Here's the gist:
1. It's not about you. It's about the bigger picture: the story.
2. Get out of your own head and serve that story.
3. If you can swing a show, you can do anything.
Thank you, Spelling Bee!
